Spencer's Surgery

I thought I would give a quick update on Spencer's surgery. He DID have it done today and so far everything is going well. We arrived at the surgical center at 6:30 this morning, which if you ever need to have a procedure done and they give you the option between the surgical center and the hospital...chose the surgical center. Everyone was so nice and accommodating there. The building is super nice and clean. They made the experience not so scary. But anyway, we got there early this morning, signed some paper work, then they took us the our room, which was nice. We got to stay in the family lounge which had a tv, toys, a couch, and two chairs. Once we got back to our room, we changed him into his gown. At about 7:30, they were ready to take him back for his surgery.

We didn't hear from the Doctor again until 9:15am but when we did he told us that everything went just fine and that Spencer did a great job. Once he woke up and after about 30 minutes in a recovery room, the nurses brought Spencer back in to see us. He was pretty groggy but looked fine! He had an IV in his foot that he kept in until right before we left. He did so well! The area that was worked on was still numb at the time so he was pretty relaxed. We had to stay for a while to make sure he could hold down liquids and that he wasn't running a temperature. By 10:30 we were on our way home! Spencer was a great patient! And he was SO brave!

Once we got home, the numbness started to go away and the pain began. He was VERY sad, but the doctor sent him home with some Tylenol that has codeine in it so once that kicked in he was much better. Oh, for anyone who doesn't know what surgery I'm talking about...Spencer was born with a hypospadius. We had to wait until now to get it corrected because of the anesthesia they have to use. If you're curious as to what a hypospadius is...I'll let you check out webmd for yourself. : )
But all is well so far. Robert and Spencer are sleeping on the couch so I thought I would take the time to fill everyone in! Thanks for all your prayers and support. We love you all and will keep posted on his recovery!

Poor Pooh Bear!

Lately, we've been talking up going potty in the "big boy toilet" to Spencer. He's starting to realize what it means to go potty and that he can do it sitting on the toilet. After he has a dirty diaper, we always tell him that he should go poo in the potty. Well, the other morning, Robert was about to leave for work when Spencer came running out of the bathroom with a huge smile on his face. We just thought he was being cute and was coming to say bye to dad. Then he kept going back to the bathroom and pointing. That's when Robert and I put two and two together. That's right, Spencer had put his Winnie the POOH in the toilet! We couldn't be mad because we were laughing SO hard! He had put pooh in the toilet just like we have been telling him.

Robert rescued Pooh and promptly put him in the wash. After calling my mom to see how and if you can wash stuffed animals, Pooh got a nice bath in the gentle cycle of the wash. I am proud to say that Pooh pulled through and now he smells like a fresh bouquet of flowers. Aren't kids just the best?!

A Real Mom

Today has been one of those days. Let's see, the day started at about 7:00am, when Spencer woke up. He's had a cough lately, so rather than let him play in his room by himself, I got up and let him out of his room. Poor little guy! His nose was super runny and I could tell he just didn't feel good. He was supposed to have surgery tomorrow, but I thought I better take him in to see the doctor to make sure we were good to go.

Before all this, Spencer and I had to take Jacque, our dog, to the vet to get his stitches taken out and to get a rabies shot. Can you just picture me dragging a dog and a 1 1/2 year old into the vet's office? It was a little crazy to say the least! Then Spencer got all worried when I had to help the vet hold Jacque down so he could remove the stitches, so he started to cry. After the vet counselled me about obedience training for the dog, we headed back for the car and were on our way.

So we quickly dropped off the dog and headed to Dr. Baker's office. Spencer was acting fine and dandy until they tried to take his temperature. He FREAKED out! Turns out the little guy has an ear infection and a little bit of a respiratory infection. Poor Spencey! We left the Dr's office with a prescription and a well earned lollipop. This whole time, Robert was at cannery to fill an assignment he volunteered for months ago. So this journey was a solo one. Needless to say, I dropped Spencer off with his dad (at home by this point) and left for Walmart to fill his prescription.

It's days like these that make me feel like a real mom. I guess I always thought that when I was mom I'd be busy running to and fro, but I've learned that isn't always the case. We'll see how much that changes in August with our new addition. Hope everyone has a GREAT Monday!

Baby Girl Sullivan

We had another doctor's appointment today and we got new pictures of our baby girl! The Dr said everything is looking great and that she's good and healthy so far. Oh, and she's definitely still a girl. : ) Thank goodness!

Backyard Fun!

We're starting to get some nice weather so Spencer and I took advantage! He drew pictures with his new side walk chalk (he's wearing the container on his head in the first picture), played in the sand box, and jumped on the trampoline. I just can't wait till we can go outside without our coats! We are definitely looking forward to summer!

So Proud...

I have to take a moment to toot my own horn. My house is clean! I absolutely hate cleaning! So having a pretty clean home is awesome. I decided that today I would skip my afternoon nap and clean house instead. Surprising, I know!

It's so funny, b/c most of the time when I think of cleaning I imagine it to take FOREVER. This, however, was not the case. I was shocked!

I'm sorry this may seem really dumb to those who are reading this, but I gotta say, I am so proud of me! Have a GREAT weekend and enjoy General Conference!

Anyone seen Spring?

Hello to all our friends, both near and far! If you're near, I have to ask...has anyone seen Spring?! This has been the longest winter of my life! I always thought Idaho was cold, but this is getting a little out of hand. When the snow started falling during General Conference back in October, I thought, "How nice! The snow is starting early so surely it will end early, too!" If you don't live in Idaho, let me tell you, that has NOT been the case. Here it is, April 1st, and we're still experiencing 30 degree weather. It snowed Sunday and Monday. Luckily there was no snow fall today. I keep telling Robert that if it snows one more time, I'm outa here. But I have yet to follow through with my threat so I think I'm losing credibility. Oh well...

I'm just ready for flip flops and short sleeved shirts! Bring on the boiling temperatures! I want to turn my ceiling fan on and sip lemonade by the sand box. I'M READY! What's funny is I say all this now and talk a big game, but as soon as July hits with its super hot weather, you know my story will change. Plus, by that time I'll be eight months pregnant with swollen hands and feet praying for snow to fall even earlier.

However, until that day arrives...bring on the HEAT!
